The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of one of its staff members for allegedly extorting candidates.
The Board disclosed the disciplinary action in its bulletin on Monday, describing it as part of its broader efforts to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s admission and examination processes.
JAMB said its zero-tolerance approach to fraud and misconduct applies not only to individuals outside the organization but also to its own workforce.
The Board warned staff members against engaging in conduct that could undermine its operations, damage its reputation or exploit candidates and members of the public.
It said employees found guilty of such misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures under established rules.
According to JAMB, the dismissal demonstrates that the Board is prepared to take action against internal misconduct with the same resolve it has shown in tackling external fraudsters.
The Board also cautioned staff against abusing their positions or the trust placed in them by candidates and members of the public.
JAMB said the latest action should serve as a warning that its anti-corruption policy applies to all employees, regardless of rank or position.
It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional, accountable and transparent workforce, stressing that efforts to protect the integrity of its admission and examination processes must begin from within the organization.
The Board urged all staff to uphold its rules and avoid any conduct capable of compromising its operations or exposing candidates and the public to exploitation.
