Ikeja Electric has apologized to customers on selected Band A feeders after failing to provide the required minimum of 20 hours of electricity daily on November 3 and 4, 2026.
The distribution company announced the shortfall in a notice published on its official X account, @IkejaElectric, on Thursday, expressing regret over its inability to meet the expected service standard during the two days.
Band A customers are entitled to at least 20 hours of electricity supply daily under Nigeria’s service-based electricity tariff structure. The latest disruption means customers on the affected feeders received less than the minimum hours guaranteed under the category.
Ikeja Electric did not identify the specific feeders affected or explain the reasons for the supply shortfall in its announcement. It apologized for the inconvenience caused and acknowledged that it had fallen below the expected service level.
The development comes amid recurring complaints over electricity supply disruptions affecting some Band A customers on the company’s network.
In a separate public safety advisory, Ikeja Electric warned residents against trading, building or erecting structures beneath or close to electricity transmission lines.
The company described power line corridors as high-risk areas, cautioning that activities around such infrastructure could expose individuals and surrounding communities to serious danger.
It urged residents to maintain the recommended safety distance from power lines and avoid using the areas beneath them for commercial activities, construction or other purposes that could put lives and property at risk.
The company also encouraged members of the public to use its dedicated communication channels for safety guidance and enquiries.
Ikeja Electric reiterated that observing safety precautions around electricity infrastructure was essential to preventing accidents and protecting communities.
