The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is underway, with major wins already recorded across technical, writing and acting categories as filmmakers and actors from across Africa compete for top honours.
This year’s ceremony, held in Lagos, celebrates achievements in African film, television and digital storytelling, with productions from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and other countries represented.
Among the early standouts are Colours of Fire and My Father’s Shadow, both of which secured multiple awards during the live ceremony.

Best Cinematography
- To Kill A Monkey — Kabelo Thathe (Winner)
Major categories still contested
Several headline categories remained open at the time of filing, including Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Movie.
Nominees in the acting categories include Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Sola Sobowale, Linda Ejiofor, Funke Akindele, and Bisola Aiyeola.
