The Federal Government has declared Friday, 01 May, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Nigerian workers for their contribution to national development.
He praised their hard work and dedication, describing them as critical to the country’s growth and prosperity.
Tunji-Ojo also urged workers to remain committed to patriotism, productivity, and diligence, noting that these values are essential for sustainable development.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria is committed to supporting the welfare and security of all workers and creating a favourable environment for economic growth,” the statement said.
He further called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the holiday, encouraging citizens to reflect on unity and the role of hard work in nation-building.
Workers’ Day, marked globally on May 1, celebrates the contributions of workers and the labour movement.
