2025 UTME: JAMB says ready to provide ‘unparalleled registration and examination experience’ for candidates, stakeholders

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres and issued warnings to 89 others nationwide following its review of the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The board also announced that one centre in Lagos has been permanently barred from participating in any future examinations.

In a statement released on Friday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the decisions were based on findings from the mock examination exercise, which is used to assess both candidate preparedness and the operational readiness of CBT centres.

Crackdown on substandard centres

According to JAMB, the mock UTME serves as a quality control measure, helping the board identify centres that fail to meet required technical and operational standards.

“The exercise is not just for candidates to familiarize themselves with the CBT environment, but also for the board to evaluate its systems and the performance of accredited centres,” the statement noted.

The delisting of 23 centres means they will not participate in the main 2026 UTME, as part of efforts to safeguard the credibility and integrity of the examination process.

Additionally, 89 centres across multiple states have been placed on notice and are expected to improve their facilities and compliance or risk further sanctions.

Centre banned indefinitely

JAMB disclosed that one centre, Ha-Shem Academy in Yaba, Lagos, has been permanently blacklisted due to serious infractions, making it ineligible for any future involvement in the board’s examinations.

Nationwide impact

The affected centres span several states, including Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Plateau.

In the FCT, two centres, De-Lite CBT Centre in Maitama and Zulqud Consult Ltd in Lugbe, were among those delisted.

Lagos recorded the highest number of affected centres, with multiple facilities either delisted or warned, reflecting the scale of JAMB’s nationwide audit.

Other states with flagged centres include Kaduna, Kano, Rivers, Ondo, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa and Taraba, among others.

Push for exam integrity

JAMB said the move is part of its broader commitment to ensuring that only centres with the required infrastructure, stable systems and adherence to guidelines are allowed to host candidates.

The board has in recent years intensified monitoring of CBT centres to curb technical failures, malpractice and disruptions that could affect candidates’ performance.

Candidates scheduled to sit for the 2026 UTME are advised to check their assigned centres carefully and follow official updates from JAMB, especially if previously selected centres have been affected by the latest review.

With the main examination approaching, the board says it will continue to monitor compliance to ensure a smooth and credible testing process nationwide.
