The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has warned members of the public about a fake employment letter being circulated by fraudsters claiming to recruit on behalf of the agency.
The warning followed the circulation of a purported “Letter of Provisional Offer of Employment”, which FAAN said was not issued by the authority.
In a statement released on Thursday, FAAN said it is not currently recruiting and has no involvement in the employment offers contained in the circulating document.
The airport authority urged job seekers to be particularly careful, warning them not to send money, disclose sensitive personal details or communicate with anyone presenting the fake offer.
FAAN said anyone who receives such a document should treat it as fraudulent and avoid taking any action based on the information contained in it.
The authority also stressed that genuine recruitment announcements would only be released through its recognized and official communication platforms.
The warning is coming amid the growing use of fake recruitment advertisements to target Nigerians searching for jobs, with fraudsters often demanding payment for supposed processing fees or requesting personal information that can later be used for identity theft.
FAAN therefore advised members of the public to verify any recruitment claim through its official channels before responding, adding that legitimate employment opportunities would be properly announced by the agency.
The authority urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment offers rather than risk losing money or compromising their personal information.
