The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the final hours of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which officially ends today.
The electoral body appealed to citizens who are yet to register, transfer their registration, correct personal information or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to complete the process before the deadline.
In a message shared on its official social media platforms, INEC stressed that those who fail to register before the exercise closes may have to wait until the commission announces another registration window.
The commission noted that the CVR exercise is designed to accommodate first-time voters as well as Nigerians seeking to update their voter records ahead of future elections.
Eligible citizens can still complete the process through INEC’s online registration portal or visit designated registration centres, state offices and local government offices before the exercise comes to an end.
The commission reminded Nigerians that being registered is a prerequisite for participating in the 2027 general elections.
INEC had earlier extended the nationwide registration exercise by two weeks to allow more eligible voters to be captured in the national voters’ register.
The voter registration exercise began with an online pre-registration phase in August 2025 before physical registration commenced later that month.
Since then, millions of Nigerians have been successfully added to the voters’ register across different phases of the exercise as the commission intensifies preparations for the next general elections.
With the registration window closing today, INEC urged eligible Nigerians not to delay, emphasizing that every registered voter has a role to play in shaping the country’s democratic process.
