The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, will on Tuesday honour seven exceptional Nigerian undergraduates with cash awards of ₦5 million each in recognition of their outstanding academic performance during the 2025 admission exercise.
The awards will be presented at the maiden Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony scheduled to hold in Lagos, as part of efforts to promote merit, reward academic excellence and encourage high-performing students across the country.

In a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the examination body said the beneficiaries distinguished themselves through exceptional performances in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Post-UTME or institutional screening exercises conducted by their respective universities.
According to the board, the recipients emerged through a transparent, rigorous and merit-based selection process coordinated by JAMB.
The board explained that six of the awardees represent Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while the seventh recipient is the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
The beneficiaries are students of the University of Lagos, University of Uyo, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, University of Maiduguri, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
JAMB noted that the University of Lagos is the only institution with two award recipients, as it also produced the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
The examination body said the initiative underscores its commitment, alongside Rite Foods Limited, to recognising academic excellence and encouraging students to strive for outstanding educational achievements.
The ceremony is expected to attract more than 300 participants, including the Minister of Education, the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory agencies, principal officers of tertiary institutions, education stakeholders, development partners, corporate executives, students and members of the media.
JAMB said the collaboration with Rite Foods reflects a shared commitment to rewarding excellence, promoting merit-based achievement and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue academic distinction as a pathway to national development.
