The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Lagos-based social media influencer over his alleged involvement in an international cocaine trafficking operation after authorities seized a consignment of cocaine valued at nearly $28 million.
The agency said Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on August 13, 2026.
According to the NDLEA, the 49-year-old was detained while preparing to board a business-class flight to Paris, France. The agency alleged that he was a key Nigerian figure in a transnational network suspected of moving cocaine from South America through Nigeria to markets in Europe and Asia.
Micheal, who has about 700,000 followers on Instagram, is known online for showcasing a luxury lifestyle and presenting himself as a businessman involved in gold and other high-value goods.
The investigation began after NDLEA operatives intercepted 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine at a courier facility in Lagos on August 3.
The drugs were allegedly concealed inside brown boxes and were being prepared for export, with the consignment reportedly destined for the United Kingdom.
The agency said intelligence gathered during the investigation pointed to Micheal as an alleged key figure in the Nigerian operations of the trafficking network.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), said operatives moved to arrest him after receiving information that he was planning to leave Nigeria.
Marwa said the suspect was apprehended at the airport boarding gate before he could leave the country.
The agency also announced the arrest of Lawal Mujab Kehinde, 33, in connection with the investigation.
Kehinde was allegedly employed by a logistics company used to transport the cocaine. According to the NDLEA, he helped package the drugs for export and received cash payments for his role.
During Micheal’s arrest, NDLEA said operatives recovered more than $12,840 in cash, comprising euros, pounds sterling and naira, along with expensive jewellery.
The agency said the items were being examined as part of the investigation into the suspected proceeds and activities of the alleged network.
NDLEA said the case has an international dimension, with other suspected members of the trafficking organization reportedly arrested by law enforcement authorities in the UK and elsewhere.
The agency said cooperation with foreign counterparts would be important in identifying other people involved in the alleged operation and disrupting the network’s activities.
Marwa warned suspected traffickers that leaving Nigeria would not necessarily protect them from arrest.
He said the agency would continue pursuing suspects until the wider network was dismantled.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are expected to establish the alleged roles of the suspects and other individuals connected to the shipment.
Micheal and Kehinde have not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims against them remain allegations and have not been tested in court.
