The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the recovery of additional wreckage from the ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as underwater search operations continue.
The Air Force said on Wednesday that specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau were sustaining recovery efforts at the crash site.
The multi-agency teams are conducting round-the-clock operations, supported by hydrographic surveys and satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, to locate and retrieve relevant materials.
The NAF said mud excavation and the removal of excess water were also being carried out to improve access to areas of interest.
“Working tirelessly, day and night, the multi-agency teams are maintaining sustained efforts, and supported by hydrographic surveys, satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery,” the Air Force said.
It added that the recovery of additional aircraft components would support efforts to document and preserve evidence for the ongoing investigation into the crash.
The search teams are continuing to locate and retrieve relevant materials as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.
