The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has warned Nigerians to disregard fake recruitment screening notices circulating on social media, describing the documents as false and unauthorized.
In a statement published on its verified X account on Wednesday, the Service said the documents, which purportedly announced screening schedules for candidates who passed its Computer-Based Test (CBT), did not originate from the agency.
“The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has been drawn to fake content currently circulating on social media. The NCS wishes to state clearly that these claims are false and did not originate from the Service,” the statement said.
The forged notices, which contained alleged screening dates, venues and requirements for candidates, were flagged by the NCS as fake. The documents also instructed applicants on dress codes and identification requirements for a purported screening exercise.
The Service urged applicants and members of the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels and to ignore unofficial announcements.
The warning comes amid continued public interest in the 2024/2025 Customs recruitment exercise, which has progressed through several stages, including applications, Computer-Based Tests and profile update processes.
The NCS had earlier directed shortlisted candidates to complete final screening updates through its recruitment portal ahead of the next phase of the exercise.
The agency reiterated that its recruitment process remains free of charge and cautioned applicants against making payments to individuals or groups claiming to facilitate recruitment.
It also advised job seekers to remain vigilant against fraudsters who often exploit recruitment exercises by circulating false information and demanding money from unsuspecting applicants.
The Service said any legitimate update regarding the recruitment process would be communicated through its official platforms.
