Nigerian footballer Victor Udoh has died at the age of 21, with reports indicating that the circumstances surrounding his death are being treated as suspicious.
According to reports by the Mirror UK, the former Southampton FC and Royal Antwerp FC forward was found dead in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. Authorities are yet to officially confirm the cause of death.
Udoh had recently returned to Nigeria following the end of his spell with Czech club SK Dynamo České Budějovice, which he joined after leaving Southampton in 2025.
The young striker signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Southampton but spent only seven months at the club without making a senior appearance before both parties agreed to part ways in pursuit of more regular playing opportunities.
Before moving to England, Udoh developed his career in Belgium with Royal Antwerp after joining the club from Abuja-based academy Hypebuzz.
He impressed at reserve level, scoring 12 goals in 21 matches, and later went on to make 28 appearances for Royal Antwerp’s first team.
Udoh was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s promising young attacking talents during his early years in European football, attracting attention for his pace, movement and finishing ability.
