The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed October 31, 2026, as the deadline for all public universities in Nigeria to conclude admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was announced on Monday during the 2026 JAMB Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja.
According to resolutions reached at the meeting, private universities have until November 30, 2026, to complete their admission processes, while polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education are expected to conclude admissions on or before December 31, 2026.
The policy meeting brought together vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts and other stakeholders in the education sector to harmonize admission procedures and timelines across tertiary institutions nationwide.
JAMB also approved 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026 academic session.
The decision was reached in the presence of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, alongside heads of tertiary institutions and key education stakeholders.
The board said the move forms part of broader efforts to ensure transparency, uniformity and efficiency in the admission process.
The meeting also reviewed institutional readiness, compliance with the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), and measures aimed at reducing irregular admissions across the country.
The latest admission timeline follows renewed warnings by the Federal Government against admissions conducted outside JAMB’s CAPS platform, with authorities insisting that all admissions must comply with established guidelines to remain valid.
