As the Super Eagles prepare to launch their AFCON 2025 campaign against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania today, Tuesday, 23 December, the Chairman of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, Vincent Okumagba, has guaranteed that the team will have a massive presence in the stands.
Despite recent concerns regarding logistics and airlifting instrumentalists, Okumagba confirmed that the “12th man” is fully mobilized to push Nigeria toward a fourth continental title.
Speaking from Morocco on Tuesday morning, Okumagba outlined how the supporters’ group overcame initial travel hurdles. Following an emergency meeting last week, all rival supporters’ groups have resolved to work together under the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club banner.
To ensure a full house for the opening match at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, the club has mobilized Nigerians living in Casablanca and other Moroccan cities, providing them with free tickets and official T-shirts.
While the core “band boys” (instrumentalists) departed Lagos early Tuesday morning, a larger contingent is expected to arrive on Thursday via support from the National Sports Commission (NSC), led by Shehu Dikko.
The Super Eagles enter this tournament with a heavy burden of expectation after missing out on the 2026 World Cup.

Former Super Eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona (2013 AFCON winner) and striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni have both called on the team to play “without fear.” The consensus among analysts is that winning the 2025 trophy is the only way for the team to atone for their recent failures on the global stage.
Coach Eric Chelle is expected to field a strong attacking lineup tonight to secure an early three points and quiet critics following the recent friendly loss to Egypt.
