The protracted visa ban on Nigerians the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was lifted on Monday, 15 July as an agreement was reached to resume the issuance of visas to Nigerian passport holders.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this yesterday shortly after the 8th FEC meeting of 2024.
The UAE imposed a blanket visa ban on Nigerians in October 2022 while Emirates Airlines suspended flight operations to Nigeria in November of the same year. “Today, an agreement has been reached on that and effective from today 15th July, Nigerian passport holders can obtain to go to the United Arab Emirates.
Details of that will be provided to you later today when we put out a statement. But I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE can do so”, the minister said.
