Tinubu to NLC: Maintain the Peace, Frequent Strikes Unacceptable

President Bola Tinubu has expressed displeasure with the approach of a section of Organized Labour, saying calling four strike actions within nine months of a new administration was unacceptable. Tinubu spoke on Thursday in Lagos where he inaugurated the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line project, a 37km project expected to reduce travel time and improve transportation and logistics in the State. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, he called on Nigerians to embrace change and work towards national progress. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating corruption and called on labour unions to refrain from disruptive actions. Speaking on the incessant industrial actions called by Labour, under various pretexts, the President advised Labour leaders to rather help society by maintaining the peace, if their reason is not political, reminding them that the Labour movement is the only voice available to Nigerians.
