Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has officially declared the end of the sit-at-home order in the state, urging residents and businesses to resume normal activities. The directive, which had been observed for several weeks, was initially implemented in response to security concerns and calls by certain groups for civil protest.
Governor Soludo stated that the cessation of the enforced sit-at-home is aimed at restoring economic activity and public confidence, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies will continue to ensure safety for all citizens.
“Today marks the end of the sit-at-home, and we call on all Anambra people to return to their daily routines without fear. Government remains committed to protecting lives, property, and commerce,” Soludo said during a press briefing on Tuesday.
Business associations and civil groups welcomed the announcement, expressing optimism that the move will revive commerce, markets, and public services that had been disrupted.
Security operatives have been deployed across the state to maintain peace, particularly in major commercial hubs, while the government urged residents to report suspicious activities to authorities promptly.
The governor also reiterated his call for dialogue and community engagement to address underlying causes of civil disruptions, highlighting the need for cooperation between citizens, law enforcement, and local leaders to ensure sustained peace.
