The Federal Government has inaugurated a committee on the implementation of the recommendations of Steve Oronsaye’s panel on the restructuring and rationalization of Federal Government parastatals, agencies, and commissions. The committee was inaugurated yesterday by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, according to a statement by the director of information, SGF office, Segun Imohiosen. The 10-member committee has a deadline of 12 weeks to submit its report. Akume stressed that implementation of the white papers on the report, which would involve the merger, relocation, subsuming, or scrapping of some parastatals, agencies, and commissions of the Federal Government, was aimed at reducing the cost of governance and streamlining efficiency across the governance value chain.
