The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has officially opened its online application portal for the 78th Regular Course, inviting qualified male and female Nigerians to apply for admission into one of the country’s most prestigious military training institutions. The application window runs from 28 November 2025 to 30 April 2026, giving prospective cadets ample time to complete the process.
In a statement released on Friday, the Academy said the new admission cycle reflects its commitment to strengthening the officer corps of the Nigerian Armed Forces through rigorous academic and military training. The Regular Course program combines four years of academic study with comprehensive military drills, grooming cadets for commissioning as officers in the Army, Navy, or Air Force.
Eligibility criteria include a minimum of five credit passes in core subjects, meeting physical fitness standards, and passing the Academy’s multi-stage selection process which involves aptitude tests, medical evaluations, and screening interviews. The NDA emphasized that the application is strictly online and warned applicants against engaging with intermediaries or fraudulent agents.
This year’s admission opening also underscores the Academy’s continued move toward inclusivity, with more spaces available for qualified female applicants. Over the last few admission cycles, the NDA has progressively expanded female participation, aligning with global trends in military recruitment and Nigeria’s broader commitment to gender inclusion in national service.
Education experts say the NDA remains an attractive destination for young Nigerians seeking structured discipline, higher education, and a clear career pathway within the military. The Academy has recently stepped up efforts to improve its academic facilities, training equipment, and digital infrastructure to match evolving security demands.
With Nigeria facing complex national security challenges from insurgency and banditry to cyber threats the next cohort of cadets will be expected to train in an environment that balances traditional military readiness with modern defence strategies.
The NDA advised interested candidates to apply early, follow all published guidelines, and stay updated through official communication channels to avoid misinformation. The 78th Regular Course is expected to draw a large pool of applicants, continuing the Academy’s legacy as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s military leadership development.
