Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has voiced support for Cesc Fabregas to one day return to Stamford Bridge as the club’s manager, praising his former teammate’s football intelligence and leadership qualities.
Hazard, who played alongside Fabregas during Chelsea’s Premier League title-winning campaigns, said the former Spain international has the tactical understanding and personality required to succeed in the Chelsea dugout.
“Cesc knows the club, he knows what Chelsea demands, and he understands football at a very high level,” Hazard said in remarks shared by European media. “I can see him as Chelsea manager in the future.”
Fabregas, who is currently building his coaching career after retirement, has been widely tipped as one of the promising young managers in European football. Since hanging up his boots, he has remained closely involved in the game, earning plaudits for his football philosophy and man-management skills.
The endorsement from Hazard adds to growing speculation linking Fabregas with a long-term return to Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup between 2014 and 2019.
Chelsea have not commented on the remarks, and there is no indication that Fabregas is under immediate consideration for the role. However, Hazard’s comments are likely to resonate with supporters who remember the midfielder’s pivotal role during one of the club’s most successful modern eras.
