Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has regained her freedom after spending two days in police custody. Her release on Monday, December 22, 2025, followed a weekend of intense social media drama and high-profile interventions.
The actress was arrested on Saturday evening during a live broadcast on social media, where viewers watched in real-time as she confirmed that security operatives had entered her home.
The arrest is the latest escalation in a bitter public feud between the actress and the founder of Grace Nation Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor.
Ogala has spent the last few weeks alleging a long-term romantic relationship with the cleric dating back to 2017. She claimed she ended her previous marriage at his request and accused him of “breach of promise” after he recently wed another woman, Pearl.
The situation intensified last Friday when Ogala posted (and later deleted) a compromising image purportedly showing the cleric in a private setting wearing only a towel.
While the exact charges have not been publicized, sources suggest the arrest was linked to allegations of cyberstalking, defamation, and blackmail following a petition from the cleric’s legal team.
Upon her release, Doris Ogala took to her Instagram page to express gratitude to several individuals who campaigned for her freedom.
More so, human rights activist and former presidential candidate was credited with providing legal and advocacy support, as VeryDarkman (Martins Otse), a social media critic, who had previously warned Ogala about the legal risks of her claims, reportedly intervened to ensure her safety while in custody.
She thanked her supporters (often referred to as the Ratel gang) for keeping her case in the public eye through the #FreeDorisOgala hashtag.
However, while she is out of custody, the legal battle appears far from over. Comedian Dee One, who broke news of the arrest, suggested that Ogala may still have to defend her allegations in court.
Pastor Chris Okafor has officially denied the romantic allegations, with his representatives describing the claims as “false and malicious.”
