With the stage officially set for a titanic final between tournament hosts Morocco and the Teranga Lions of Senegal, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and technical partner PUMA have unveiled the special match ball for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finale.
The ball, a bespoke “Gold Edition,” was revealed today, Friday, 16 January 2026, specifically for the championship match following the conclusion of the semi-finals, where Morocco overcame Nigeria, and Senegal defeated Egypt.
The special edition ball, officially named the “Pokuru Gold Edition,” features a striking aesthetic designed to commemorate the prestige of the African crown.
Unlike the standard ball used in the group stages, the Final version is adorned with shimmering gold and deep emerald green patterns, symbolizing the wealth of African talent and the lush landscapes of the host nation, Morocco.
The intricate geometric patterns are inspired by traditional Moroccan “Zellij” tilework, blended with modern aerodynamic lines.
The center of the ball features a high-definition print of the AFCON trophy along with the date of the final: 18 January 2026.
PUMA has integrated its most advanced football technology into this specific ball to ensure peak performance for the continent’s biggest match.
The unveiling marks the final promotional milestone before Sunday’s showdown. CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his excitement during the reveal:
“This ball is more than just equipment; it is a piece of art. It represents the pinnacle of African football. On Sunday, the two best teams on the continent will chase this golden ball, and only one will lift the trophy it represents.”
For the first time in AFCON history, a limited run of the “Final Match Ball” will be made available for purchase by fans.
Quantity: Only 2,026 numbered units will be sold worldwide.
Packaging: Each ball comes in a commemorative box with a certificate of authenticity.
Price: Retailing at approximately $160 (₦240,000) in selected PUMA stores and CAF online platforms.
